Strathearn Historical Park & Museum will participate in Smithsonian magazine's fourth annual Museum Day by offering free admission Saturday.

Museum Day is a day when most museums and cultural institutions nationwide open their doors for free admission. A celebration of culture and learning, Museum Day emulates the free-admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution's Washington, D.C.-based properties.

Last year, more than 100,000 people attended Museum Day in 651 participating museums in all 50 states.

Strathearn museum is at 137 Strathearn Place. Free admission and docent tours will be available from 1 to 4 p.m.

For more information about the park and museum, call 526-6453 or visit http://www.simihistory.com.

In addition to the walk, there will be a demonstration by the Search Dog Foundation, which trains rescue dogs to be deployed in search-and-rescue operations.

"Animal Rescue Volunteers raises its entire budget through donations and the Wag N' Walk event is a critical source of funding for us each year," said Nancy McChesney of ARV.
