Simi community games:
Oct. 12 through 15. Individuals 50 and older can compete for free in basketball shooting, bingo, bunco, 8-ball pool, golf, horseshoes, shuffleboard, paddle tennis and poker. The registration deadline is Oct. 4, and entry packets are available at the center.
Simi Valley Lifelong Learning Institute:
A variety of classes offering extended learning to those 50 and older, including a topical curriculum, field trips, forums, and other educational opportunities taught by academics, writers, artists and professionals. NEW PROGRAMS FOR THOSE 50 AND OLDER
Registration is under way for a wide variety of one-day workshops, multi-week classes, clubs, and sports and exercise activities for people 50 and older.
Co-sponsored by the city of Simi Valley, the Council on Aging and the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, most activities take place at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi.
Most classes have a registration fee.
