The Simi Valley Cajun, Creole Music Festival is Saturday and Sunday at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park.

Its sponsors say it is the second-largest Cajun festival west of the Mississippi, with more than 15,000 people attending.

The festival will feature Cajun and Zydeco music.

In addition, Cajun and Creole food will be available from a variety of food vendors.

Among the groups playing are the San Diego Cajun Playboys, Jeffrey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys, Lisa Haley and the Zydecats and more.

Skatelab is sponsoring a book signing release party for "Stalefish: Skateboard Culture from the Rejects That Made It" from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at Skatelab, 4226 Valley Fair St., Simi Valley.

The book is written by Sean Mortimer, with a foreword by skateboard professional Tony Hawk. Mortimer is also the author of "Hawk: Occupation Skateboarder" and "The Mutt: How to Skateboard and Not Kill Yourself."

The Conejo Valley Arabian Horse Association will host the 2008 Summer Kickoff All Breed Show starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 8 at Gateway Simi Equestrian Park, 3495 Chicory Leaf Place, Simi Valley.

Categories are available in English and Western for age groups 13 and under, 14 to 17, and 18 and over. Appropriate show clothing is required in all classes.

Walk/Trots are open to new riders, adults and children.

Ribbons will be given to first through fifth places, along with nine dayend awards in the categories.
