On the eve of Election Day in 1980, then-Gov. Ronald Reagan gave a speech on network television asking voters to give him a chance to remedy the poor economy and talked about the 21st century. The day after Reagan gave the famous "A Vision for America" speech, he went on to become the nation's 40th president, winning overwhelmingly over incumbent President Jimmy Carter.
